Black Panther
Scott Hardie: “It ruled.”
Pros: What a beautiful and vibrant sense of design, from the costumes to the sets to the CGI dreamscapes, drawing upon different African tribal traditions. There's also a terrific villain, one of Marvel's best, who is almost as sympathetic as the hero. The soundtrack is great too. I really liked how they wove together bits and pieces of the comic-book Black Panther's world and supporting cast into a coherent cinematic vision. (Killmonger, for instance, combines elements of three different villains from the comics, but he works terrifically here.) That dream vision in the apartment, damn; how often is a scene that good in any superhero movie? Setting a crucial scene in a recognizable place (1990s Los Angeles) was a smart move to ground the film.
Cons: I didn't exactly mind the serious tone, but after all three of Marvel's 2017 titles functioned mostly as comedies, I wasn't expecting such a dearth of humor. The CGI looked unfinished in a few places, such as the snow burial. There's lots about Wakanda that makes no damn sense, but I suppose I can blame the comics for that. None of the plot twists are surprises if you've seen movies like this before, but this one's done so well that I didn't mind.

Evie Totty: “It ruled.”
aka The Danai Gurira Show aka The Other Civil War :D
This movie was visually stunning. Just. Stunning. My mind is going so fast I don't know if I can get everything down that I'm thinking. From the tech to the ideology to the villain... this movie was a joy to watch.
I had a couple of problems (I call them big plot holes - but others disagree with me) but otherwise, Marvel did a great job with this film.
I liked how the villain had a good point - he had simply crossed a line long ago that had 'sealed his fate'. And we will definitely be seeing Michael B Jordan's name in films for decades to come. I know Boseman is the FOTM but Jordan has longevity.
