Bright
Evie Totty: “It was ok.”
Ok so I have this here because it's #2 in IMDBs most popular films for 2017
This story is good on paper - but could have been executed better. When I first heard of it - I thought of Alien Nation with James Caan and Mandy Patinkin. Which I loved. And they made a tv show out of it. I also enjoyed that.
This wasn't exactly a remake of AN - it was a story with a prophecy in an alternate universe where orcs and faeries and elves existed.
The film didn't really get started for an hour so it only left an hour for the real story. Sure they have to set up character development but honestly, they did a poor job because I didn't care about any of them.
Luckily - this is on Netflix so you don't have to go to the theater.

Scott Hardie: I think that IMDb list only shows current popularity as of the moment you look at it. Right now, Bright is #1 on the list. In a month or two, it will probably sink like a rock.
Netflix dropped $90 million to acquire this movie, and I bet they regret every single dollar. For all of its "popularity," it's getting some of the worst reviews of the year. I might see it someday on a Netflix binge but I'm certainly in no hurry. − January 1, 2018 more by Scott
Evie Totty: And they took this to Cannes too! I know folks who loved it. I just didn't. − January 1, 2018 more by Evie
Scott Hardie: My mistake: Netflix is quite happy with it. − January 3, 2018 more by Scott
Evie Totty: Yeah. I am going to call this the 'Transformers Experience'.
People came in droves because it was Will Smith. So since they did, Netflix isn't caring about the reviews. − January 3, 2018 more by Evie
