Deadpool
Evie Totty: “It ruled.”
THE best opening credits off all time. Though I believe they edited them after the first weekend - IIRC it said 'Produced by a bunch of douchebags' and now it says 'Marvel Studios and [whoever has the Deadpool rights] Production'
THE best Stan Lee cameo of all time.
The movie was full of action, comedy, romance... Self-deprecation. One of the best movies of the year. Hands down.
And when it comes down to it if you had to give it one genre... it's a Romance folks.

Denise Sawicki: Before seeing it, I wasn't sure about the concept, but I really liked it too. I liked that the humor was different from the sort of macho humor I would have expected from an action movie. − February 21, 2017 more by Denise

Scott Hardie: “It ruled.”
This is a very funny anti-superhero romp, where a surprisingly high percentage of the jokes land. Critics complained that this movie hewed too closely to a traditional superhero origin story, but in that conservative choice, I sense Fox's obliviousness to the character's fanboy appeal and their unwillingness to go big on an "untested" character. If the main character is sometimes obnoxious, there are enough jokes at his expense to temper it. This is every bit the twisted fun I was hoping to get.

Scott Hardie: Is it me, or does Wade still not look that bad after disfiguration? Characters compare him to Freddy Kreuger but he doesn't approach that level of ugliness. He looks like a handsome person who lost his hair and developed a skin condition like bad acne scarring, nothing too serious. Considering that the plot hinges on him being so ugly that he cannot resume his former life, I don't know that the makeup is totally convincing. − April 23, 2017 more by Scott
Denise Sawicki: Yes he looks OK, certainly not horrifying. He's got low self-esteem, plus I guess it could be a case of Hollywood Homely. − April 24, 2017 more by Denise
Evie Totty: Whoo hoo glad you liked it :) And yes he looks 'manageable' I suppose. But still. If you had to look at it all the time it would probably get unnerving.
Hollywood ;) − April 24, 2017 more by Evie
Scott Hardie: I think that's exactly right, Denise: "Hollywood Homely." Certain viewers out there with much worse disfiguration must see this and wonder what it implies about them. − April 29, 2017 more by Scott
