Scott Hardie: “It sucked.”
This movie should be right up my alley. It has an interesting subject that appeals to me, stylish direction by a guy who made another movie I liked, and a fantastic cast: Sigourney Weaver, Robert De Niro, and Cillian Murphy. And yet the movie is a huge misfire, from ripping off shots from better movies, to having its disappointing twist ending be obvious from early on, to endless scenes of characters staring into space long after any suspense has dissipated, to a generic forgettable title that has little to do with the movie. Some movies just get worse the more the filmmakers try to dress them up. A plain recording of the lead actors doing a table read of the script would probably have turned out better.
