We're now a few weeks away from GooCon: Villa Ridge, to be held in the western suburbs of St. Louis. There's definitely room for more guests if you're interested; please sign up by 10/1 if so. However, by now I think everybody who wants to attend is probably already on the list or discussing it with me in private, so that's not why I'm writing.

Right now, I'd like to invite everyone else in the area, the folks who would like to meet us but can't make it for the entire three days, to join us for a single evening on Saturday, October 15th. We want to meet as many people from Funeratic as we can! The gathering will go something like this:

6pm: dinner at a Chinese buffet near Villa Ridge
8pm: a round of Celebrity Goo Game Live, played at the house
10pm: a movie at the house, probably The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra

Feel free to skip any part of the evening if it doesn't appeal to you. We're happy to see you for as long as you want to be there! Significant others are invited too. No kids under 18, please.

Everybody will pay their own way at dinner. It will be $10 per person to join us at the house, for game supplies. I'd like to take a few pictures of the group, but don't feel any pressure to dress up. This will be totally casual.

If you'd like to be there, I need to hear from you no later than 10/1, so that I have time to prepare before the trip. You can reply in this discussion, or just send me a message. I'll provide addresses and other specifics after you sign up.

One person has put her name on the list already: LaVonne Lemler, goo game regular (congrats on #800!) and Chris's mom. Also attending as part of the entire GooCon weekend will be Chris Lemler, Erik Bates, Jackie Mason, Joanna Woods, Justin Woods, Kelly Lee, and me.

I'll use this discussion to coordinate the evening gathering, separately from the other discussion about all of GooCon, so please keep an eye on this page. Feel free to ask any questions you like; the floor is open.

I hope to see you soon!

Scott what time are you and Kelly going to arrive at the rental house at Villa Ridge?

Scott Hardie | September 18, 2011
On Thursday 10/13, we'd like to meet the landlady around 3pm to be let in, then go out to buy groceries, so we should be ready for guests around 6pm. I'll be able to confirm the exact time about a week beforehand.

Chris Lemler | September 18, 2011
Cause I was gonna leave around 2 and could meet you guys up there at 3 and i could help you guys carry in groceries then if you would like a extra hand?

Scott Hardie | September 18, 2011
I really appreciate the offer to help. But I think we need to get settled, and buy everything, before we greet any guests -- we've tried it both ways in the past, and it definitely works better that way. We'll look for you in the evening. Thanks!

alright just asking

Sarah Kyle | September 29, 2011
So if I am correct the event is on the 13th lol.

Sarah Kyle | September 29, 2011
What if we are running late. As that seems to be the story of my life.

Chris Lemler | September 29, 2011
Glad to see your back in the game Sarah

Sarah, the full GooCon weekend begins on October 13th. There were a number of locals that we hoped to see that couldn't make it for the entire 2.5 days, so we also planned a shorter gathering just on the evening of Saturday October 15th to see them: Chinese buffet (6pm), one round of the goo game (8pm), and a movie at home (10pm). I hope that you can make it to either the full weekend or just Saturday night!

If you mean that you may arrive late on Saturday, we'll accommodate you. We'll probably be at the buffet for 1.5-2 hours, a generous window of time. Dinner can be skipped if you merely want to join us afterward.

If you mean that we (the group) may arrive late to dinner, it's possible but I'm doing everything I can to avoid it. The activities just before dinner can be skipped to keep our appointment at the restaurant with locals coming over to see us.

If you mean that the night may run late, that's also possible. I haven't played the live goo game with this many people before, so the time is merely a guess. Guests are free to skip the movie, and the goo game too if they like, in order to get home earlier. The evening will probably run until around midnight if you stay through the movie.

Reminder to everyone: The deadline to sign up is no later than this Saturday, October 1, whether you're attending the entire weekend or just the short gathering on 10/15. In order to finish my preparations for GooCon, I need to know who to expect. Thanks!

I am still working on my end and hoping that I can come out., Probably skip dinner as that is the time that me and my kiddo eat but could head out after. Not to worried about staying out late as me and my son are night owls lol.

Thanks Chris.
