I wish I had a video of the event to complement this request, but you'll have to do with my description based on what I've heard from others.

Please help resolve an argument. Mike Myers is presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award (uh huh) at the MTV Movie Awards this past weekend. Halfway through his acceptance speech, he stops, turns to another camera, and delivers a straight-faced commercial endorsement of Chevy trucks. No one laughs. He then returns to the main camera and resumes his normal speech. The show, by the way, is produced by Mark Burnett, famous for slipping product endorsement into his reality shows.

Joke or serious? (Either way, we can assume it was paid for by Chevy.)

Hehe, thanks for finding the clip. I kept searching for his speech and getting Cameron Diaz results without watching them, so I figured it wasn't online.

Yes, now that I've seen it, that is unmistakeably a joke. The friend who brought it up was convinced it was real and he was disgusted by it. I couldn't believe it was not a joke and now I know.

I don't know how you looked at the clip... when I clicked the link, all I got was a "copyright claim" notice from MTVN -- pretty fucking lame (of them).
