I usually find myself associating

Sad, but hardly surprising...

Aaron Shurtleff | August 9, 2007
Now that is horrible! I can't believe there are researchers who would trick kids like that! :(

Well, I guess you wouldn't, Aaron, what with your squishy brain! (Steve's observation, not mine!)

Can parents make healthy food more palatable by putting it in McDonald's wrappers before getting home? It's not practical, really; just pondering.

Amy Austin | August 9, 2007
HAHAHAHA... I'm imagining a kid opening a Mickey D's cheesburger wrapper... with green beans inside -- yum!

Steve West | August 9, 2007
Here sweetheart, would you like some more McBrussel sprouts?

Steve West | August 9, 2007
And may I supersize that for you?

Denise Sawicki | August 9, 2007
Fresh brussels sprouts are awesome. They're kind of sweet... and rubbery... No seriously I like them, I never had the opportunity to try them until college but then I was surprised to find they are quite good.

It might work a little bit actually... there is some cookbook out there where you trick your kids into eating vegetables by mixing them into kid friendly foods like cauliflower in mac&cheese or whatever.

edit: it was mashed cauliflower, it would be kinda hard to hide if there were big chunks...

Steve West | August 9, 2007
Can't say I've ever tried fresh Brussel sprouts, only the Green Giant with radioactive cheese sauce. My kids tried the cauliflower with cheez whiz thing at Grandma's once. Grandma got a face full of veggies and some serious orange stains on her linen tablecloth. Anyway, maybe I'll try the fresh produce and form a new opinion.

I've never understood the widespread hatred of Brussels sprouts, either... I think they're okay, too. Not as good as broccoli, but okay for what they are. (What exactly *are* they anyway? I kind of figured that since "sprouts" is part of the name, they must be like cute little baby cabbages or something -- though not too similar in flavor -- but I've never looked it up... I think I will have to go do that now!)

Brussels sprout

Hmph... not really as informative as I would have hoped.

You know what would be cool would be a combo McDonald's fast food and emergency surgery drive-thru. I would love to order a strawberry shake and a McAppendectomy. My wife requested a Filet-O-Fish and the Big Hysterectomy. What an incredible convenience!

Scott Hardie | August 10, 2007
Yeah, but you gotta be careful they don't screw up your order. Last time I wound up with a friggin' Feminizing McGenitoplasty, and all I wanted was some apple pie.

Amy Austin | August 10, 2007
Y'all are grossing me out here... but way to make McD's unappetizing! ;-p
