1. Love musical theater.
2. Heterosexual (stereotypers beware).
3. Could explain Cats but refuse to (hated it).
4. Five Guys Named Moe (a celebration of bebop in the music of Louis Jordan) is a fave.
5. Evita, Madonna notwithstanding, also a fave when done right.
6. I would skip Miss Saigon. Enjoyed it when I saw it but could remember nothing of the music just a few hours after the show. Just utterly forgettable.

I liked "Show Boat." In high school I saw "Sweeney Todd" and "Into the Woods" on field trips; both have been favorites since. "Dancing at Lughnasa" wasn't a pure musical but I enjoyed it as one. The rest of the musicals I saw were pretty bad, save for one at WIU. The worst was in a little playhouse on Mackinac Island in Michigan, a tourist trap with some pretty scenery but little of interest for a vacationing 16-year-old to do. I clearly remember thinking that the show, something about waitresses at a diner, was rushed, as though they could barely think of any dialogue to write between the mediocre songs so they just didn't bother. My mom and I happened to loiter around the theater lobby afterwards, and the two lead actresses (still wearing their costumes) came out of the side door and walked home just in front of us, smoking and swearing and complaining about their sore feet. The illusion, for whatever it was worth, was broken.

I love "Jesus Christ Superstar." I saw the touring production a few months ago - the guy who played Judas in the movie was in it. Very cool. Sebastian Bach, of all people, was supposed to play Jesus, but he had bailed out of the show due to "creative differences" with management. Cool update - in the scene where Jesus throws the merchants out of the temple, they had these scrolling electronic tickers showing share prices for Enron, Worldcom, Adelphia, etc. Nice touch.

Wow, no mention of my fav - Fiddler on the Roof. Made quite the impression on me when I was in middle school.

Loved Fiddler when I saw it! Got goose bumps at the beginning, when I saw Cats also.

Was very unhappy when they closed all of the dinner theaters here. Guess they just weren't making enough money anymore.

Been involved with theatre one way or another for many, many years. Never saw Superstar though. Met some big stars when they were doing their tours. Most are pretty friendly even after they've had a hard performance.

I've considered doing some volunteer work, but I'm just to busy.
