Do you think it's about the boat, as in you're feeling adrift in life? Or do you think it's about the people, as in you feel the need to reconnect with certain people again?
For me, it's being back in my childhood home, having conversations with my father. He passed away in 1997 and we sold that house in 2000, but the dreams take place in the present day, with me as a married adult telling him about events in my life today. It's bittersweet in that I get to spend time with him again every few months, and then wake up and remember that he's gone.

I'm glad that my recurring dream is a pleasant one, because most of my dreams are surreal and horrific nightmares, like cult-worshipped spider demons eating my face, or anarcho-punks decapitating pig-faced homeless people. I usually avoid horror as a genre, so I have no idea where my brain comes up with this stuff, but it sucks and makes me dread going to sleep. If I ever need to make a career as a horror-movie writer, I'm set for material.

I have a lot of dreams about being at my parents' house and seeing a weird animal in a place where it shouldn't be, like a giraffe on the roof.

Denise, any speculation as to what that might say about your subconscious, if anything? Do you fear your family springing surprise changes on you? (I'm not inclined to think that every dream must have some hidden meaning, but with recurring dreams, the possibility seems greater.)

When I was little we'd always go on these trips to nature preserves and national parks to look for wild animals and sometimes I'd be napping or looking the wrong way and I'd miss seeing an animal and apparently I'd be a giant brat about it. Maybe something to do with that.
