Which show has the divine design lady, Lori? I recently heard a similar complaint, about how the design expert frequently ignores what people say they don't want and proceeds to do it anyway. Was it you saying this, Matt?

I've been holding back a TC rant on "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" because I haven't seen the show; I don't know, maybe it's really entertaining. But as a man who many would probably label style-ignorant, I'm offended by its main conceit. The show confuses low style with no style: It is so convinced of its own good taste that instead of recognizing that we straight guys made ourselves and like ourselves the way we are, it assumes instead that we *have* no sense of style. That's like those assholes who claim that rap music is not music, instead of just saying that they don't like it.

I like what "dana" wrote about the show on Static Zombie, very simple and to the point: "maybe i didn't like it because i think everyone should feel comfortable with their own sense of style. there's nothing wrong with clothes that feature comfort over style. there's nothing wrong with furniture that is cheap and functional. there's nothing wrong with not caring what other people think of your 'style'. anyone who judges you by these things isn't worth your time."
