I'm pleased to announce that Thorough Movie Reviews has been redesigned and upgraded! Besides the look, I've re-organized the content a bit. Each movie now has its own page, with a plot description from Netflix at the top. Whenever reviews and replies contain spoilers (as decided by their authors), they're hidden behind a spoiler warning.

But the biggest improvements are two new features:

Three Clues is a game challenging you to recognize a movie based on three things that it has in common. I liked the game when Erik brought it to TC and I decided to make it a permanent feature. I've created an initial batch of movies, but I hope you'll provide more for other players to guess. Unlike other games on Funeratic, this one isn't a competition; this one's just for fun.

Movie of the Month is a discussion forum for a popular new film that month. All of you are invited to participate in it, whether you've seen the movie or not, but you should expect spoilers. This idea was also originally suggested by Erik, and probably would have happened back then if there wasn't so much squabbling on TC at the time. This month's film is Ridley Scott's Prometheus, opening this Friday, a movie that I hope is complex and interesting enough to foster some good discussion.

Have fun with the new features! I look forward to your contributions as always. :-)

I'm loving the Three Clues submitted so far! I'm not very good at them yet, since I'm holding off on Google for now, but I'm really enjoying them. Keep 'em coming!

There are two new elements in Three Clues:

1) Each movie now shows how many players have solved it. I thought about adding this while I was building the game, but I erred on the side of avoiding competition and keeping the game friendly (not to mention finishing sooner). In hindsight, this information belongs on the page.

2) You can now review pending guesses that the system didn't recognize. Just like in Celebrity Goo Game, some guesses might be correct but just a different spelling than anticipated, while others are way off. You can mark each guess correct or incorrect, and help keep the system organized. Please take notice of the game rules at the top.

When you mark a spelling correct or incorrect, it disappears forever, even for future players who guess that way. Other players might want to see some of the pending guesses too, so please only mark a few at a time, especially at first. Thanks!

It's all good. There will be plenty more. :-)

You can only approve/disapprove of guesses for the movies that you've created and solved. Any of the titles out there that still stump you won't be spoiled by this. Whether that's a good or bad thing is up to you.
