I fell into the banking field not knowing that I had any particular skill in that area. Fortunately, I wound up in operations and not front-line member contact responsibilities. I've been doing it for 17 years, advanced to my current position in which I'm in charge of daily production overseeing a staff of six and get terrific job satisfaction knowing that I've successfully handled over a billion dollars worth of transactions annually. I plan to retire doing nothing else. Too bad that Master's I earned led to nothing but unhappiness for me.

I made the original version of this web site on a whim back in college when I was bored one weekend, and it just kept growing. More times than I'd like to admit, I skipped a class to work on it, which eventually turned out to be helpful, because I developed skills that allowed me to pursue a job in web development. Now I have a great career doing this for a living every day, while I still get to tinker with my web site on weekends. As of this month, I've now been a web developer for more than half of my life, and I can't imagine doing anything else. I have the same occasional daydream of being an astronaut or a president or a rock star as I'm sure anyone does, but I have no real dream of doing anything but this. I'm very lucky, and grateful.
How did you get into doing what you do? Do you have a dream of doing anything else?
