Even if I couldn't stay that smart afterwards, if I could at least remember the feeling of being that smart, I would probably do it. As painful as some of Charlie's experiences in Flowers for Algernon were, was it not a positive experience for him overall? It would be a humbling experience to go through such a thing and know afterwards that you're not as smart as you could possibly be, but I think that would be a good thing for keeping one's ego in check.

Would you undergo transcranial magnetic stimulation, as this guy did, if it could make you temporarily smart/different/whatever, as a way to see things differently? What if we could enact this change permanently?
