Wondered how much longer he'd last. Shame to see that he's gone though. :-(

So sad... it's things like this that truly feel like "the end of an era" (sniff).

Fortunately, Montgomery Scott will live forever in reruns. Unfortunately, so will Lwaxana Troi.

Now if only everyone will leave Bill Shatner "alone" so he can go the same way...

It is a shame about Scotty. He was one of the "fun" characters on the show, all the way through the movies.

I agree. I loved his guest appearance on TNG when he had that moment of disappointment in his successor. "Aw, ya di'na tell the cap'n how long it would really take, di'ya lad?"

Yes. Totally. He worked more conventions and met more fans than any of the others, and seemed to have an infinite supply of kindness and warmth. Love of "Star Trek" had little to do with the sadness over his passing. When Walter Koenig dies, the response will be, "Oh."
