So Now I'm Playing Rock Block
Tony Peters | June 10, 2008
that's pretty much it....
Steve West | June 10, 2008
That's essentially true however, Scott will stage random events such as Block Parties in which participation alone earns you a card and small contests to determine the winner of a higher ranking card. We've done two thusfar, I believe.
Tony Peters | June 10, 2008
speaking of which Scott...any chance of one this summer????

You can also get new cards by swapping. Go to your label and click "swap" below a card you don't want, and sooner or later someone will give you a new card of the same rank that you don't have already. If you want a specific band, look them up in the Collection Guide to see who has them, then offer that person a private swap the same way, with a comment saying which card you want.
There's also the birthday cards once a year.
Other methods are rarely seen: As a newbie, you can lose cards in trade before you get the hang of the game, so go to the Card Exchange to get replacement cards until you're back up to 10 total. Also, if someone gets a rock block and signs an exclusive deal with one of your bands, it will disappear from your label, but you can go to the Card Exchange for a replacement of the same rank.
We can do a "block party" this Saturday to coincide with the GOO tournament, if enough people say they'll play. At minimum, play one turn in one concert to get a free card, but the idea is to play lots of matches against lots of different people. If you don't have many cards to go around, play themed concerts instead.

I'm able for one game anyhow. I'm usually not online enough on the weekend to do several.
Steve West | June 11, 2008
I'll be around, yeah.
Scott Hardie | June 13, 2008
It's on. I look forward to heat-themed and fire-themed concert titles all day.
Denise Sawicki | June 13, 2008
I suppose it would be too greedy and card-grubbing to inquire how one opens up this heat wave theme? Or perhaps it only opens on the day of the event :)
Amy Austin | June 13, 2008
I think he just means concert titles/names, Denise... ;-)
Scott Hardie | June 13, 2008
It's a real theme, in the system already. It should reveal itself soon after the event begins.
Amy Austin | June 13, 2008
Oh! I'm sorry... and intrigued... ;-)
Tony Peters | June 13, 2008
hummmmmm...well I'll definitely be back saturday evening and the delivery of my Mac has been delayed by FedEx so I won't be doing the install thing
Steve Dunn | June 14, 2008
How do you start a concert with the heat wave theme? I must be missing something...
Amy Austin | June 14, 2008
You have to watch the concerts until you've seen enough "heat" cards to access the theme...
Scott Hardie | June 14, 2008
Or look at the block party page to reveal a bunch of them at once.
Scott Hardie | June 15, 2008
Thanks for playing, everybody! We had 15 players play a total of 77 concerts. The heat theme made a big difference this time, and I plan to do more themes like this in the future.
I received the R4 prize for playing the most different opponents (14), followed by Steve West (12), Aaron and Chris (10), and Amy (8).
The "Heat Wave" theme now takes its place among the other themed concerts, under "by name" in the list.
There was a huge number of promotions today, since almost three weeks' worth of cards entered the game all at once. It will be a while before more are added. The "New Rockers" theme is going to look a lot like "Heat Wave" for a few weeks.
I hope this event was fun for everybody who played; personally I had a great time. Tony, thanks for suggesting it!

As if I didn't have enough online distractions already... ;-)
I think I'm catching on, but I want to make sure I understand how new cards are acquired. Is it accurate to say that the only ways to get more cards are to:
1) Win them in a concert; or
2) Get them randomly for free in the Card Exchange?
I'm sure I'll have some other rookie questions as time goes by, so bear with me.
