That's weird... I'm pretty sure I capitalized "that's" -- both times.

Glitch alert...

Scott Hardie | January 26, 2007
Fixed. Authors don't always capitalize the titles of their new discussions here and improper capitalization bugs me, so I wrote a little script that capitalizes the first character of each word and converts the rest to lower-case. It doesn't work so well when the first character of the word is ", but I'm working on that.

I dunno why a duplicate discussion showed up, though.

Fast. Could be because I had a slow connect and hit "Submit" twice? While I'm making waves here (haha), I'll go ahead and make a suggestion on Discussion Archive -- for faster searching... Could all years be left unchecked in default mode? Usually, I am looking for a recently cleared discussion and will uncheck all but 2007 -- which is really helpful this early in the year... I would really like it if that were reversed. Perhaps I'm not alone??? (Thanks... ;-)

I'm just glad when I'm here to fix something. Apparently the site broke at midnight last night and didn't get fixed until I woke up at 8am. It was fun discovering 560 error emails in my inbox.

Amy Austin | January 26, 2007
Hahaha... yeah, I noticed the "Scott has been alerted." I guess that's generated each time one of us tries to access the site... and I also guess you've corrected that to only happen on the first time?

Heheh, that's funny. Thanks for that mental image, Jackie. ;-D

Your faster-searching request has been granted, Amy. I had left the boxes checked by default because I figured people would just type their search term and want maximum results matching it, but that's what the bar at the top of the page is for. The specific Archive search forms are for more advanced searches and should behave accordingly.

Cool. Thanks, Scott. :-)

Is it really true that Scott is alerted every time one of us accesses the site? I am new here; very cool!!! You guys are a lot of fun!

Scott Hardie | March 4, 2007
I get alerted only when there's a database error. On the old server, apparently the database was offline for an hour around 4am every night, because I'd wake up to inexplicable error messages many mornings. No such problem at the new server.

Joe, even though you only posted ten comments to enter the Oscars contest, welcome to the site. :-)
