STP was my favorite band for a long time. I pretty much exclusively listened to country music before a friend of mine did me a huge favor by buying a copy of Core for my birthday. It was like a gateway drug for me. Pearl Jam has surpassed STP for me since, but I still love me some Stone Temple Pilots. I plan to go to at least 2 or 3 shows on this tour. You can't beat Weiland's stage presence, and each time I've seen him with STP or Velvet Revolver (probably 5 or 6 in total), it's been a great show. This might be blasphemy, but I enjoyed GnR songs as performed by Velvet Revolver more than the originals in some cases.
I'm with you, Erik, the likelihood of Scott staying sober through a 64 show tour and then the production of an album seems slim.

I'm not too familiar with STP's body of work, but Plush is one of my favorite all-time songs. It also happens to be one of two songs that I'll willingly perform at karaoke. The other is Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams.

...willingly perform at karaoke.
Is that with or without booze first?
Tony Peters | April 17, 2008
I seem to remember you only singing when booze was involved

This is one of the reasons I don't drink: Accidental karaoke.
Amy Austin | April 18, 2008
There was nothing accidental about it, but it was a one-time only event.
Tony Peters | April 18, 2008
yes it was plotted...how much alcohol is required to see Amy sing "Bohemian Rhapsody"
Aaron Shurtleff | April 18, 2008
Careful with that answer, Amy. If you end up at GOO Con, there will be Rock Band! ;)
Amy Austin | April 18, 2008
I wouldn't call it "plotted", and I didn't sing "Bohemian Rhapsody", either.
Aaron Shurtleff | April 18, 2008
Funny, Scott. That's one of the reasons I do drink: accidental kareoke! :D
Tony Peters | April 18, 2008
certainly not on your part anyway .... I'm fuzzy then, what was it

Steve - STP flat rocks. If you want to give them a go on iTunes or elsewhere, try a couple of the following for more of the Plush variety: Interstate Love Song, Creep or Wicked Garden. The first two were definitely big singles, and I think Wicked Garden was as well. You're probably familiar with all of them, even if not by title.
For tracks that will kick you in the teeth that you might not have heard before, try Silvergun Superman, Lounge Fly and Where the River Goes.
Scott, I want to thank you for starting this thread. It prompted me to dig through my mp3's and I'm now 12-13x more excited for this tour than I already was.

Thanks Shawn. I remember the hits, and I remember liking them. I think I even have the CD. Probably need to dig that thing out and give it a spin.

One of the least-respected hit bands of the 90s is being re-evaluated on the occasion of their reunion tour, and the AV Club has written an appreciation. Opinion? I'm as curious what Erik thinks as anyone.
