Margaret Atwood has invented a pen that works by remote control, so she can sign books for fans without having go on a book tour in person. (link) Any thoughts?

Mine: There's a huge collector's market for autographed books, sure. But aren't the people who show up for book tours usually fans, not collectors? Wouldn't they appreciate an authentic, personal signature? I guess they can still get one if they communicate by video-conference with the author, but that's just... creepy. Why not have the author just email you a signature and you print it out on tissue paper and rub the autograph into your book? Because that's lame as hell, that's why. Isn't the point of a book tour to meet the author?
