Um, go down to the corner bar and have a beer?

(My wife could go into labor at any moment).

I think this is a great topic. I made a conscious effort to travel before having children, and got around quite a bit.

You might want to check out this thread at BTD for other folks' thoughts on travel destinations. (link)

As for me, I still plant to travel, but we'll probably stick a lot closer to home for a while, or make weekend jaunts while leaving the youngster with my parents. I get to New York about once a year. I've been meaning to get to Savannah for a long time. We LOVE Charleston. It might be a while before I leave the USA again though...

New Zealand would be cool.

BTW, I think I forgot to say "congrats" to Steve and "Happy Birthday" to Denise (am I right in thinking that I saw that a few days ago? My sense of time is totally obliterated right now...)

Couple weeks ago, but thank you :)

Pretty much any place in the Western Caribbean. My dream cruise though is a 14 day cruise that leaves Los Angeles, heads to Hawaii, stops at several islands, then heads back to Mexico for a 1 day stop there before returning to LA. I'm hoping to take that cruise in the next several years, but who knows, it could be awhile.

Japan. Japan, Japan, Japan.

Nothing excites me more. I'd like to see more of the U.S. before the rest of the world though.

Japan would be neat. I wouldn't mind going there also at some point in time.

Can you imagine the sushi? MMMMmmmm!!!!

I think it's alarmingly beautiful there - I love Japanese design, they have amazing countryside, and Tokyo looks absolutely chaotic and wonderful.

Well, New Orleans was on my list... I suppose it will recover before long. Australia used to interest me but I've heard it's virtually identical to America except for the accent, so now I don't know. New York, inevitably.

You've never been to New York? It should be a requirement of everyone to come to the greatness that is us!!!

Scott Hardie | April 7, 2006
...That's pretty much the reason I haven't been yet. ;-)

(I know you're j/k.)

Japan would be nice. Bonus: compared to the rest of Asia, it's not that far. Anecdote: on my return trip from Taipei/Saigon, I fell asleep on the plane as we headed out of Hong Kong. When I woke, I looked out the window, expecting to see the black night ocean. Instead I saw lights! I got all excited, thinking I'd slept through the entire flight and we were about to land. Oooops. The lights I saw were not California. They were Japan.

That sucked.

I'd like to go to Japan some time, though.

Haven't you seen Man on Fire, Jackie? ;-)
I dig your list a whole lot, Lori -- I just didn't feel like making one when I said that New Zealand would be cool... I could make a huge list, too, and it would overlap with yours a whole lot, but I am too busy dealing with depression right now, and sad to say that such a list would probably only seem to deepen it for me.
