Those are awesome. I want one for Yule!

Naw, I'm still saving my money for a Titan nuclear missile silo! :-D

What says diametrically opposed more than living in a space that was created for the destruction of life!

I wish I lived at either of those places just so I could get reactions from pizza delivery drivers.

If I had my fanboy residence come to life, I'd choose the castle used for Satanic rituals in The Ninth Gate, because it would be awesome to have friends pull up in a driveway lit with torches every three feet and staff wearing black robes. And also because it's only about an hour from dusk to dawn.

Heheh -- the pizza delivery guy reaction... definitely the best reason to have an eccentric house. ;-D

I've always wanted to live in a retired missile silo (like the Sheriff in Eureka) Everyone I know says that I am crazy for thinking that it would cool to live in a silo but I agree with John for the reasoning

odd homes (still wishing for the return of that automated linked text!!!)

Saw one of the silos on HGTV's Exteme Homes and loved it!

Well, you'd have to make sure you had some way to secure the actual missle silo area, the bottom is a long way down, 80 so odd feet or more, so you wouldn't want anyone to fall into that space!

Granted, I'd want to change that space from an open cylinder into a multi-story area of circular rooms, but until that was done, if you were living there, you'd want something to keep everyone out!

Well, I thought a neat thing to do with a silo would be to create a very unique Bed and Breakfast. People book vacation stays for a week at a time and sometime during their week, you go into a lock-down mode because there's been a nuclear war. Then they get an idea of what it would be like to be stuck in a fall out shelter, circa 1960s.

But until I can afford to buy a silo, it's going to remain a dream!

Cool idea, John! Have you thought of a name for your B&B silo??? (Some suggestions...)

Ike & Nikita's
Cold War & Lemonade
Bay of Pigs in a Blanket
Armageddon a Leg
Blast From the Past
Diefenbunker's
Sleep Like a Dictator
The Potentate Cup o' Tea
The Subsidence Residence (or also, Subsidence & Subsistence)
The Flak Shack?
And, of course... how about The Gunter Bunker (Gunterbunker's?)

Just some starters, of course... I can try to come up with more if you like -- any other ideas? ;-)

(More inspiration: fictional subterranea)

I'd have to go with The Gunter Bunker! Not that I'm conceited or anything like that! ;-)
