No headphones allowed? I think I'd go crazy. :-)

I listen to a lot of hard rock and metal at work, the better to drown out conversations around me. But I wouldn't play that through speakers.

A few of the softer things that I've been enjoying lately that I would play through speakers (some of which I think I mentioned before on TC):
- Tycho
- Jenny Lewis
- St. Vincent
- Aphex Twin
- The Joy Formidable
- Frank Ocean
- The xx
- Fiona Apple

As long as we're on the subject of work music: I've been making my way through Megadeth's whole catalog this week, listening to them for the first time in years. (Like I said, metal and hard rock get me through many work days.) A few years ago, Dave Mustaine remastered and partially re-recorded all of their albums up to that point, ten albums that now sound very different after his tinkering. He's like the George Lucas of metal, meddling with his own classics and refusing to release anything but his adulterated versions. I agree that the new versions are objectively superior, but it's still jarring to hear songs zig where I expect them to zag. I'm just glad to hear that they still rock as hard as ever.
