In a similar discussion, I wrote "mazel tov" for your wedding, Scott, so I decided to write "congratulations" in Dutch because of the location of the wedding. I guess I could have wished Matt "goede reis" as well.

Thank you all so very much for the congratulations! As Scott mentioned, Liz and I were married on the island of St. Maarten (Dutch side). This was a stop on a week-long Caribbean cruise we took with family and friends and it was such a wonderful time away. On Valentine's day, we parted ways with our guests and enjoyed five nights in Cozumel, Mexico for our "official" honeymoon. It's sad to be back after two weeks on such a glorious vacation, but still good to be home.

I put together a short film with pictures of the wedding that were taken by a family member. It's about 5 minutes long and set to music. The song is "Waiting For My Real Life To Begin" by Colin Hay. These aren't the official wedding pictures (we'll get those in a few weeks from the photographer) but I wanted to share the early versions with anyone interested.

We took more than 2,100 pictures over the two week trip! Nearly all will be available online at our wedding site in the coming weeks. I'll share these when they are ready.

I cannot imagine that the "official" pictures could be that much better, Matt -- the ones your family member shot were every bit as good as any professional could do, I am sure... there's a lot of beauty and emotion captured here (one of you and another of Liz and another of who I'm guessing is her mom? just almost make cry to look at!) -- I hope you gave a very special thank-you gift to this person. And nice video compilation of them, too.

There have been some other wedding/anniversary announcements made here over the past couple of years (Scott Ho and Steve West come to mind), and I am afraid that I have been slightly remiss in my bitter inability to adequately acknowledge and address these with any heartfelt good wishes. Despite some residual emotion and ongoing issues -- hopefully the last of them requiring any further contact -- I think I have finally come to a place where I can offer my sincerest wishes for longer-lived happiness and much better luck than I had in my own first shot at it. After all... I think everyone deserves at least that much. ;-)

So Matt... you and Liz look like a strong and handsome couple in love -- here's hoping you can maintain that for a lifetime of years to come. Congratulations.
