Let's fire this one up early.

Concerned about the current negative image of the American military in many countries, Paramount Pictures and Hasbro, the toy manufacturer, have decided that in their forthcoming film featuring comic-book patriot G.I. Joe, the character will become part of a multinational force, the London Daily Telegraph reported today (Tuesday). Even the character's name has become an acronym for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, the newspaper said. Word of the makeover is likely to anger U.S. conservatives, the Telegraph noted. The film is due to open in 2009.

Yo, Global integrated Joint Operating Entity!! I guess the theme song won't call them a Real American Hero anymore either...

Well, as I think I mentioned earlier, I am a total purist (which is why I still haven't seen the new Transformers movie!), so yeah, that irks me. I understand the thinking behind it, and it's by no means my place to tell Paramount or Hasbro what to do, but.. it doesn't sit well. By 2009, I'll either be over it or even more incensed. Hard to tell right now.

That reminds me...

This is about on par with the stupidity that has been the updated Looney Toons, who are now poorly drawn superheroes...edgy superheroes.

Sigh.

Where has our childhood gone, and why the hell do they keep replaying it, and whats worse, making it EVEN MORE CRAPPY?
