Never thought I'd be late on a birthday wish, but I guess when you're as awesome and super-cool as Amy, these things come to pass!! :D

Have a great one!!

Thanks... I'm really happy to hear it from all of you, because I am having a pretty crappy day so far. I get one day off for my birthday and wasn't sure if I would take yesterday or today... or both, because I've been sick since last Sunday night. I should have at least come in for a half day to save some leave time, but... today, my computer at home crapped out on me... and here I am, after all, checking the computer at work -- but not my personal e-mail, because those sites are no-no from gov computers -- and I am sooo not happy. Not a thing in my real mail and no calls from anyone but one friend that I've been a little sore with and one other whose help I could really use to get my computer back online. At least my best friend sent me a cute e-card... but, all in all, this has to be one of the crappiest. I'm sitting here now trying to figure out where to take myself for a birthday meal, and as much as I can't stand the idea, it will probably just be dinner at the galley, because 1) I'm pretty broke, 2) you can't beat your fill for $3.85, and 3) the idea of sitting and dining anywhere else alone just depresses the hell out of me. So...

Thanks again for the wishes, and don't be surprised if you don't see me again tonight.

Aw, sorry to hear it Amy. Don't they have any restaurants that give away free birthday meals in your area? My husband and his brother were also born today (as I am sure I would have mentioned last year) and they are living it up going out for free meals for lunch and dinner. Anyway, I hope things get better for you soon!

Amy Austin | January 8, 2008
Hahaha... I did not remember that (about your husband), and I don't know of any such places besides Denny's! (Not sure where the closest one of *those* is, either...)

Anyway -- thanks for your sympathy and for making me chuckle, Denise! ;-)

Amy Austin | January 8, 2008
HA! -- Quick web search produced the following negation:

DENNY'S - free meal (said to be only kids under 10 now)

Thanks, Lori... that's where I found the Denny's quote, actually. I had dinner at the galley. ;-(

Dave Stoppenhagen | January 9, 2008
Happy belated Amy. I remember those galley dinners when I was in and in a new location.

Amy Austin | January 9, 2008
Thanks, Dave. ;-) Well, I've been here over a year now, but... well, like I said, it's hard to beat a meal for $3.85! And it was kind of nice to have the place (mostly) to ourselves (me & a retired Air Force friend) on New Year's Eve... there were all of about 6 people there that night! (Don't know *why* I didn't think of it on Christmas... I had dinner alone at the Chinese buffet that night! ;-D)

Happy birthday!! Hope you get everything you want!!

Steve West | January 8, 2010
Happy, happy birthday! Once again, the birthday fairy has failed to make you look even a day older. God, that was such a Hallmark moment, I may cry.

Amy Austin | January 8, 2010
Aww... I may cry, too -- that was about the most awesome thing you could have said, Steve! ;-D Of course... it's pretty easy not to look a day older when it's the same picture you see for months and months at a time... LOL!

And I may not be getting everything I want *today*... but I have high hopes for the year -- this is one thing that's kind of nice about having a birthday that rides the coattails of the New Year, I suppose... ;-)

Amy Austin | January 8, 2010
Happy Birthday also to Denise's husband and brother-in-law... aka "my brother Darryl and my other brother... Darrell" -- lol!

Amy Austin | January 9, 2010
Oh, my thoughtful little brother, Jaythro... he sent me a stripper for my birthday party. ;-p

Denise Sawicki | January 11, 2010
