This topic has more meaning for people who have been playing Rock Block longer, or course, but it is still a fun topic, I think...

Of the original bands you started with when you first joined Rock Block, how many do you still have? I'm talking specifically about the ones you've kept yours since you started, and not so much ones that you have lost/traded away and gained back later.

My first day of Rock Block mediocrity was August 6, 2007, and I only have three originals left: Janis Joplin, No Doubt, and Steve Miller Band. I thought of it because I thought I'd lose Iron Maiden yesterday (thanks for not taking it Justin!), which I thought was an original card (I forgot that I traded for it from Denise on the 7th), and I wondered how many I'd managed to keep from the beginning.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the date at the bottom of the list, I wouldn't even remember which bands I started with (except Janis Joplin, which I only remember for the hot Janis on Janis action back in the day!). I wonder if that's archived somewhere... It's not that important, Scott (honestly), so don't bother linking the info or anything (if you even have it stashed away somewhere). Maybe that could be a theme one day, where you play with just the bands from your original start-up group...

What about the rest of you? How are you all doing?

I can't believe this but I have no original from the day I started, but I think I have gotten them all back in time...

One year later, I still have The Eagles and Jerry Lee Lewis.

The Pixies stand alone, God bless them...

None. Frank Zappa the card served me well during the early days, so I kept it for a long time out of nostalgia, but eventually my dislike of Frank Zappa the musician made me get rid of it this summer. He was my last original.

I'm obsessive about saving numbers and data even though I might not ever use them. (Each celebrity goo gets recorded with a birthdate, death date, and birthplace, even though I haven't used that data on the site since maybe 2003.) I kept a ton of data about RB just out of habit, but I was disappointed to discover recently that I didn't keep one kind of information, where each player got each card. There's a record in the database for each card, and I can often backtrack to find that it came from the Card Exchange or victory over another player in concert or a birthday card. But a few sources, like the block parties, eluded that record-keeping. As such, I don't think I can reconstruct what hand each person started with, at least not 100%. If I ever decide to reprogram RB from scratch, which by the way will be reason to commit me to an insane asylum, I'll make a point to keep that data.

Wow. Now I really do feel like a miser, hoarding my bands, and refusing matches for trades! I thought I'd be on the low end of the spectrum (I feel like I lose more than win...*checks RB ranking*...no, I know I do), but I guess I'm too much of a tight-fisted jerk...

I can live with that! :)

No originals. I think I have had Marilyn Manson the whole time, but at one time won a duplicate, and lost the original almost immediately afterwards. I could be wrong about that as well. It's been over a year.
