"A person may be fairly judged by what he/she finds amusing." Agree or disagree?

Disagree. I find Dave Chapelle funny, but that doesn't mean I think a black man perpetuating black stereotypes is right. The man is just funny! The same with the classic movie "I'm Gonna Get You, Sucka!".

And shouldn't that be "A person can be fairly judged by what he/she finds amusing."? Let's not belittle women! ;)

I don't think the pronoun use belittles women. It was just a choice, and not mine - the quote was lifted from the internet, although I do not know the source. he/she will now be edited.

I was joking. I hope I will be fairly judged.

I'll go back into hiding now.

Not to pick on Anna, but if a person can be fairly judged by their sense of humor, then can they also be fairly judged when they don't get that another TC author is only kidding? ;-)

I think the original statement is true up to a point. My favorite kind of comedy is straight-faced silliness, which says a lot about how I see life: Treat every matter seriously even as you wink to indicate you don't necessarily think it should be. Non sequiturs rule.

Psychologists have argued for years that all humor is in fact sublimated aggression.

Not to pick on you, but I've been singled out for people thinking I'm not kidding either. It's hard online.

You are right Anna, it is difficult on line, you can't always see those winks. I think many people have been judged unfairly for their sense of humor.
