explanation: Triplett was the last person to receive a pension for the American civil war. Her father Mose Triplett had fought for the Confederacy and later for the Union, and collected a pension until his death in 1938 at the age of 92, after which Triplett (born in 1930) collected the pension as the dependent child of a veteran for the rest of her life. more…
