clue: Although le Loup des Mers was successful in nearly all of his naval actions, his insider trading hoax led to his dismissal from the House of Commons. Ironically, he ran on the stance of Parliamentary reform.

explanation: Lord Thomas Cochrane was a British naval officer, peer mercenary, and politician. With an accomplice, he led people to believe Napoleon was dead and the Allies would soon win the Napoleonic Wars, therefore the government bonds he owned skyrocketed in value.
