"Professional athletes and entertainers are among the highest paid people in this country -- and justifiably so." Do you agree or disagree?

If not, who should be the highest paid in this country?

Engineers.

(come on everybody - name your own profession! ;-)

Actually, I think the shit jobs should get the highest pay. In a 'free' economy people should not be taken advantage of because of their need - subjected to low pay and unsafe conditions. People willing to clean toilets should have major cash incentive - cause nobody wants to clean up after your ass.

You make some good points Melissa, I agree that doctors, nurses, nursing home staff and teachers should get better pay than athletes and entertainers. After all, teachers provide an important service, they educate the future!

Let's see athletes and entertainers entertain. Alex Rodriguez is making more money while I write this post than I will make all year, does that seem fair?

The only issue I see with athletes getting paid exuberant amounts is that, if they fall or the ball hits them the wrong way, they could end their career. And as far as entertainers go. If a movie makes $500 million at the box office, they should get a piece of it.

I do think though, that the average person should get paid more. It is sad that there are people in this country making $5.15/hr and trying to support a family on that.

I think "Network Engineer's" should get higher pay. :) They keep the internet and other networks running. Oh, I'm a network engineer if you couldn't tell.

Well, the most annoying students in college don't even show up. Which is nice.

I catch hell from thousands of New Yorkers every single day. I think I deserve it.

What did you major in that you had to take Calc 2?

LOL. As usual, Anthony gives the best answer. :-)

What does the president earn? $130k or so last I heard. He spends that much on a day's worth of television advertisements trying to get the job.

Otherwise... everything Melissa said, plus soldiers.

The President of the US got a raise right before Bush took office. Making $400k/year. I also think porn stars are tragically underpaid. (jk)(

Jackie...unfortunately, I'm not in Chicago. That was a play on Shrek 1, when Shrek defeated all Lord Farquar's men. I wish I were though. I love Chicago. Sitting in the centerfield bleachers at Wrigley is one of the highlights of my life.
