Same here! I treasure the friendships and fun that I've gotten from this endeavor. I don't know what the future holds, but I have no intention of giving up on this.

Ten new items have been added to The History of Funeratic. There weren't a lot of new events this year -- I was offline for four months while buying a house and moving, which was essentially already written about last year -- so I took the opportunity to go back in time and write about two older events (2009-2011) that I have wanted to cover for a while, and two more recent events (2015-2016) that I'm surprised hadn't come up already.

How drunk should we get Funeratic tonight?

Not at all! It is not just my anniversary; it belongs to us all. :-) Happy anniversary, Erik.

My enthusiasm for the Goo game seems to be flagging but my interest in the site has not. I plan to soon retire from Goo guessing but will continue visit the site daily. My blog will become a focus, I think, with more substantial posts both in content and length. Congrats, Scott and congrats to us all.

If you don't mind me asking, Steve -- and feel free to answer privately, or not answer at all -- are there one or more specific factors causing your disinterest in the game? The feel of the game has changed quite a bit in the last year, from the kinds of goos that players create, to the return of some themes, to badges as a scoring system, so I don't know whether your flagging interest is due to these kinds of changes or simple fatigue or something else.

The reason I ask is that I have this opportunity to know what I might change to make the game better. Too often, when something turns players off, they simply ghost the site and I never find out what could have kept them around. I want to make Funeratic as much fun as I can make it for everyone, and I certainly don't want to drive off longtime players. So, saying this to Steve and everyone: If there's something you want out of Funeratic that would bolster your enthusiasm for the site even more, please let me know, always.

I've seen people plan to retire and not follow through, or retire from the game only to return later, and obviously I hope that's the case here, because Steve is a terrific player and the game wouldn't be the same without him. But if indeed this is almost the end, I feel like I should say something about Steve, because this isn't just any player retiring, this is Steve frickin' West! He has solved over 3500 goos, having had the highest lifetime score in the game for nine years, pretty much since Obama was first sworn in as president. He is also one of the most frequent winners (even in person) and most frequent creators. Steve has been a giant presence in this game for so long that it feels like a legendary athlete stepping down from a sport. Can we retire Steve's avatar and hang it from the rafters?

I have a feeling that Aaron would support that.
