I've seen that before. Everyone gets so worked up about the topic. Myself I don't even like the stuff that much. Mostly I've noticed that East coast people seemed to get extremely mad at the use of the word "pop". I don't know if I've encountered people around here who get mad about "soda".
Justin Woods | August 10, 2007
I am too, but this really don't count for me, I was raised Cail. and live in Illinois now and I still call it SODA but if we are talking about brands also, I think we all almost use the word COKE for are chose of SODA.
Russ Wilhelm | August 10, 2007
In PA, we called it "pop". MA "pop". In FL it was "soda. I can't remember, but in Jersey or Georgia it was "soda pop". Nowadays, I just ask by name.

We did discuss it before, Jackie... but these are obviously weighty issues that bear repeating. ;-)
I've always asked for my "soda" of choice by name (Coke), so yeah, for me it's always Coke or whatever brand "soda" is available in its absence. Incidentally, I usually refer to the unidentified non-Coke variety of carbonated beverage as "soda"... in case you couldn't tell. As in, when offered a non-specific drink at a friend's house... "I'll take a soda". (But only if it's Coke. ;-D)
Aaron Shurtleff | August 10, 2007
In Maine, it was always soda from everyone I talked to (except this one guy who called it sodee-pop, but he wasn't all there...;) ). When I got down to Pennsylvania, it seems like central PA was mixed soda or pop, but Pittsburgh area was strongly pop! Strongly! :)
Down South (GA and FL), I've always heard soda.
Tony Peters | August 10, 2007
It's Soda...."pop" is something you do to a balloon and "coke" is just an abbreviation for Coca Cola...but in truth I'd rather have a Dr Pepper 8-)
Aaron Shurtleff | August 10, 2007
Around Atlanta (home of the Coca-cola!), I wouldn't be surprised if it was coke, because that's all the restaurants ever have. :( Except Taco Bell, as I recall, but who wants Taco Bell? :P
Tony Peters | August 10, 2007
well I for one will never own up to "wanting" Taco Bell...good mexican food on the other hand I can't get enough of (Mohegan Sun is opening a Mexican Restaurant this month that I want to try) but sadly up here in the North East "Tabasco" qualifies as salsa
Aaron Shurtleff | August 10, 2007
Been there, eaten that! :( One of the many beauties of living in Florida is there is no lack of quality mexican eateries! :)
Some of them with mariachi bands!!!
Amy Austin | August 10, 2007
(sigh) I miss Florida...

yeah I live about 4 blocks from a "famous New England mexican restaurant" and after eating there three times (hoping that there was something that tasted "right") I just quit and decided that I can make better mexican. I'm hoping that the casino mexican place will be good...the italian place (Tuscany) is great
Amy Austin | August 11, 2007
He's talking about the Dr. Pepper, dummy...
Denise Sawicki | August 11, 2007
I like Dr Pepper, can I be best friends too? :P Why is it no places serve Diet Dr Pepper? That stuff is good, particularly compared to the putrid concontions known as Diet Pepsi and Diet Coke. (I'm not so into drinking the stuff but I always taste Darrell's drink.)
Scott Hardie | August 11, 2007
I think Tony was replying to Aaron.
Amy Austin | August 11, 2007
Doesn't matter -- it still needed to be said... ;-)
Tony Peters | August 12, 2007
DR Pepper Rules...it's the only "soda" that tastes the same diet or not.
yes I was answering Aaron about mexican food....I just don't understand how we don't have a decent mexican place, hole in the wall or full fledged restaurant given the number of mexicans (leagal and illegal) we have living in southeast CT and southwest RI...hell it's easier to find good sushi than it is to fond a good carne asada burrito.
Amy Austin | August 12, 2007
True, true.

Yes I am I even have a Dr Pepper bottle opener next to my Refrigerator for beer....took me a month of bidding against people on Ebay to finally win one...yes I know you can buy one at the Dr Pepper store online but at the time they were sold out
Denise Sawicki | August 12, 2007
Speaking of Dr Pepper products, we traded in some codes from bottles and boxes to get Darrell a Dr Pepper t-shirt... Missed out on getting the cheapo digital camera with the Dr Pepper logo on it (that was sold out and that's why I resorted to actually buying a cheapo camera) but the shirt was about the same number of points. That promotion is over now as far as I know so don't get excited hehe...
Tony Peters | August 12, 2007
yeah I seem to collect about as much Dr Pepper stuff as I do Red Bull....always cruising Ebay looking for an inexpensive score
Scott Hardie | August 13, 2007
I get really tired of hearing that old urban legend about how Dr Pepper contains prune juice. As always, thank goodness for Snopes.
Tony Peters | August 13, 2007
it doesn't even taste like prunes
Scott Hardie | August 14, 2007
Agreed. I bet the people who say that haven't actually tasted prunes.
Denise Sawicki | August 14, 2007
I think we've talked about this prune thing before and if so I probably mentioned that I like prunes... But I will mention it again :P I don't really understand all the hate about prunes :)
Aaron Shurtleff | August 14, 2007
I'm with Denise on this one. Who cares if there is or isn't prunes in Dr Pepper if you like the taste? You'll either like it or not no matter what's actually in it. Unless you have some rare allergy to prunes (I've never heard of it, so I assume it's rare, but I can be corrected if it's a common allergy), it shouldn't matter. Just love your Dr Pepper! :)
Amy Austin | August 14, 2007
I, in fact, am allergic to prunes.
Haha... no, I'm just kidding -- I agree with Denise & Aaron -- and yes, Denise, you are right... I've agreed on this before. ;-)
Kris Weberg | August 14, 2007
I still want to know why we call the stuff "prune juice." Prunes are dried fruit; they don't have juice in them. It's plum juice, dammit.

I'm a Pepper
Amy Austin | August 15, 2007
Heheh... I'd been wondering whatever happened to Kris and when he was going to turn back up -- was *this* close (holding fingers about a half-inch apart) to asking about it on here, too! Good to see you again... what do you think of the new RB phenomenon?!?! Can we expect to see you there, too??? ;-)
