explanation: Alvarenga is a Salvadoran fisherman who was fishing on the Pacific coast of Mexico in November 2012 when a storm cast him and his partner out to sea. The other man died, but Alvarenga survived alone until reaching the Marshall Islands in January 2014 and being rescued. He is believed to have spent more time lost at sea in a small boat than anyone else in recorded history. more…
