clue: This onetime "nobody" had a lot in common with the financier taken down by her allegations: They were both found to have committed suicide under suspicious circumstances. They both had connections to Donald Trump before meeting. Even their names sounded alike.
explanation: Guiffre (pronounced "Joofray," similar to "Jeffrey") was among the most prominent accusers of Jeffrey Epstein. Her going public with allegations of child sex trafficking against him, a day before his death, spurred widespread public interest in the criminal case. Giuffre originally encountered Epstein's recruiter Ghislane Maxwell in her job at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. She passed away in April 2025 and her death was ruled a suicide, but it followed several close calls with death and her family expressed doubts about the ruling.
