explanation: Tell was a Swiss marksman of legend, most famous for shooting an apple off of his son's head in 1307. Swiss people reacted with hostility as historians increasingly questioned the veracity of the stories about Tell, and in multiple incidents they burned books in protest, but today most historians consider Tell's story likely to be false in its entirety. more…
